| I have kept this particular list around longer than normal because my original pages (which had the
majority of incoming links) were lost - this means I can no longer track sources of traffic
to them.
Starting in the mid 90's these went from www.cyberspc.mb.ca/~dcc, to www.mb.imag.net/~dcc, to www.escape.ca/~dcc
and www.man.net/~dcc as various companies bought out my ISP. Last year I had decided
to get away from this circus - I moved all content to my own domain (dctech.com) where I could
control the addresses and have freedom in who provided the service. I put forwarding links
on all the old pages and notified my ISP that I wouldn't be renewing my service in the fall.
Shortly after that the domain was moved yet again, but this time the /~dcc pages were just deleted
instead of being forwarded. After about a month emailing their customer service pointing out
that I still had some months left on my account and would really like the forwarding to be
found by people returning in the fall... I got absolutely nowhere and gave up. I take it as
some kind of petty retaliation on their part for my not renewing. Unfortunately, all this
means many web sites and people who had bookmarked the original pages have never found their new location.
Late in the summer of 2003 I will consider the whole /~dcc episode to be finished. I've done all
I can including sending out hundreds of email notices where I've found the contact name for
a web page that linked to the old site. I will again start regularly updating this list in time for the fall term.
In the meantime, if you know anybody still linking to or bookmarking the old addresses, let
them know about the change.
